Image by jasonEscapist 2008-02-29 23:10:45 I was disappointed that the latest Weakerthans album was not available as an iTunes Plus download from iTunes, so I tried out the Amazon MP3 store and was pleasantly surprised. For those who don't know, Apple is transitioning a good portion of their downloadable music from standard iTunes store inventory (128k AAC with DRM) to iTunes Plus inventory (256k AAC with no DRM). As of the latest iTunes release, all songs available as iTunes Plus tracks are now 99¢, and are no longer available as standard iTunes 128k tracks. This is all awesome news, except that they still haven't been able to upgrade enough of their inventory to satisfy jerks like me. Tracks at the Amazon store, btw are 256k MP3 with no DRM and cost 99¢ each and there is a discount for buying the entire album. This album cost .99. Swift co-wrote the album with people ''from all different places in music''. Collaborators include Dan Wilson, Butch Walker, Max Martin, Lori McKenna, Ed Sheeran and Mark Foster of Foster The People. Rolling Stone has described the album as ''Swift's most eclectic set ever, ranging from 'State Of Grace', a howling, U2-style epic with reverb-drenched guitars, to a sweet acoustic duet with U.K. singer Ed Sheeran. Another key track even features a Dubstep-inspired bass breakdown. The album's lead single, 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together', became Swift's first number one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, recording the highest ever one-week sales figures for a female artist.
